Here is a scenario: you have decided to being a new work out routine, and you decided to make the big investment and purchase a treadmill. You set it up in your workout room on the second floor (whether in a house or an apartment), you begin to work out, and then the complaints begin. Your family or neighbors (which ever may be the case) cannot take the sounds that the treadmill is transmitting through the floor! Often times people who decide to make the investment in a treadmill, elliptical, or other heavy exercise equipment, have no idea how loud and noisy these can be to the people below, until they have found out from other people! The sound can even be worse during a rigorous workout routine or when exercising with a treadmill incline. There are a couple ways to combat the noise and vibration these treadmills put out however. A resilient rubber mat would be excellent for dampening the sound.
These mats are also perfect for just protecting the surface beneath them. Their high density, and natural toughness provide ample protection for your floors.
A thick rubber mat, like either our Shark Tooth or Maxx-Tuff mat would be excellent for reducing the sound associated with these machines. Rubber is naturally a sound and impact absorber, making it the perfect medium for reducing the vibration and impact caused when running on the machine.
These mats have been used to reduce the vibration or sound associated with a number of applications beyond that of just a treadmill mat. Due to it being a resilient surface, it works well in the most abrasive conditions. Some of these other applications include:
-Reducing vibration caused by heavy-duty industrial machines.
-Being used as a resilient tile for a percussionist banging on his drum set.
-Providing a resilient surfacing for a resting place for your favorite pet.
-A protective surface for your washer and dryer.
There are an infinite number of uses these mats can be used for. For anything rattling, vibrating or banging on the floor, these mats would provide excellent sound dampening qualities.
