The Company Our Mission
Educate and Deliver Value to our Clientele
Increase Efficiency of our Organization
Bring to Market “Living Brands” That Evolve with our Client’s Changing Demands
Establish 1994
Founded in 1994, Rubber-Cal is a distributor of industrial rubber products. The company brings to market and inventories a wide range of rubber mats, rubber flooring, sheet rubber, flexible ducting, coir doormats, pavement maintenance parts and other specialty rubber products. Our large inventory and 24-hour fulfillment of stocked products makes us a great partner to agile OEMs and retailers by reducing their need to inventory parts and raw materials. Most of our rubber goods can be purchased in small custom-cut lengths, decreasing both the cost and time of installation and onsite fabrication.
Eco-Conscious Products
Ingrained in our basic philosophy is the mission to offer “Green” products, whenever possible, to industry and consumers alike. Natural, reclaimed and recycled rubbers are not only a practical substitute but also a far more affordable option. Firstly, by using eco-friendly materials like natural and recycled rubber we help to reduce the presence of non-biodegradable rubber waste in the ecosystem. In the US, there are approximately 245 million tires discarded annually. Our products help reduce the presence of these tires in dumpsites. Secondly, consumers directly benefit from recycled rubber products because they are more affordable than their synthetic counterparts. This has been a distinguishing hallmark that has served Rubber-Cal well over the years. In fact, it is a point of pride for us. Products using eco-friendly recycled rubber, such as our interlocking rubber floor tiles, are very popular with consumers because they offer superior protection and durability at a competitive price.

New Product Release
Rubber-Cal is ushering in the New Year with a new product. Say hello to the Gas Station Mat! This rubber mat is the latest addition to our diverse catalog of rubber matting products. It is designed specifically for use on the fuel sumps located at gas stations. It is our only rubber mat that is circular. Sized at 4ft diameter, it is made from durable SBR material and well suited for use in the outdoors. We will also introduce at larger variant sized at 4.5ft diameter in the third quarter of 2019.
Upcoming Trade Shows
Rubber-Cal is excited to announce its presence at upcoming trade shows in 2021! Come find us at the following shows:
National Hardware Show – May 2021 – Las Vegas Nevada - Rubber-Cal will be exhibiting at the upcoming 2021 National Hardware Show in Las Vegas. Stay tuned to find out our booth number so you can meet us on the trade show floor at the Las Vegas Convention Center! |
Neoprene vs Rubber Like all synthetic rubbers, neoprene is a man-made elastomer produced through polymerization, or the linking together of single molecules to form a compound. Neoprene, which is also often called polychloroprene or chloroprene rubber, actually refers to a family of elastomers that are produced from the polymerization of chloroprene. However, unlike most elastomers, the compound that makes up neoprene can be found in a few different forms: fabric wetsuit neoprene, cellular foam rubber, and solid sheet rubber. In all its forms, neoprene elastomer offers good chemical stability, high flexibility, and a wide working temperature range. Despite this common ground, it is important to understand the differences between wetsuit neoprene vs rubber, as making the wrong choice can prove catastrophic to your project.
While wetsuit neoprene is a highly compressible, fabric-like material, rubber neoprene is instead a durable and resilient general-purpose rubber. Solid neoprene is dense and features a non-permeable surface that keeps liquids out. The rubber material is available in a range of durometer (hardness) ratings, all of which demonstrate a much better resistance to abrasions than the compound’s softer form. Neoprene sheeting also has great tensile strength by comparison, allowing the dense rubber to stretch much further than its counterpart would allow. Though it cannot be used to make wetsuits or mousepads like its fabric counterpart, neoprene rubber is incredibly durable and performs well in a wide range of physically demanding applications, such as seals, gaskets, industrial machine parts.
All forms of neoprene offer resistances to oils, greases, and temperatures, but rubber neoprene is undoubtedly the more durable and versatile choice. If ever confused between fabric neoprene vs rubber, remember only the solid elastomer can be used be used as an alternative to natural rubber. Fabric neoprene is favored for applications such as wetsuits, laptop covers, and mouse pads, but when it comes to more demanding applications, you can never go wrong with neoprene sheet rubber. |
Coefficient of Friction—Why is Rubber the Ultimate Non-Slip Surface? Most people know that rubber is an excellent non-slip surface, but do you know why that is? What sets safety rubber apart from other types of flooring and surfacing is its high coefficient of friction. Friction can be defined as the force that resists surfaces from sliding against one another, and so the coefficient of friction is a tool which with the frictional force of a surface is measured. The value of the coefficient of friction is shown as a number decimal that can be as low as near-zero, and sometimes even above 1. The greater the coefficient of friction, the higher the frictional force.
Most traditional floor types, such as hardwood, ceramic tile, and concrete, have notoriously low coefficients of friction, usually below 0.5. This makes them rather slick surfaces, increasingly so when exposed to moisture. Rubber surfacing, on the other hand, demonstrates a significantly higher coefficient of friction, which is usually above 0.5. This higher value represents a higher frictional force, thus giving the material better surface traction to resist slips. Rubber’s high coefficient of friction make it ideal for use as anti-slip flooring and grip mats, as it offers much better slip-resistance compared to traditional floors. |
Roll Rubber Matting – Top 10 Benefits No matter what kind of project you are working on, roll rubber matting is always a reliable flooring choice. Whether the application is indoors or outdoors, temporary or permanent, rubber mat flooring is versatile and resilient enough for almost any job. There are countless benefits to using roll rubber matting, but these are our Top 10:
- First and foremost, rolled rubber mats provide excellent protection for sub-surfaces. The dense rubber matting absorbs impacts, abrasions, and vibrations to keep the potentially harmful movements away from sensitive sub-floorings such as hardwood and concrete.
- Unlike traditional flooring types, rubber mat flooring is durable and difficult to damage. When met with heavy impacts and abrasions that would chip, crack, scuff, or scratch more sensitive floorings, roll rubber matting endures.
- Roll rubber matting is made from solid elastomer and features a non-permeable, waterproof surface. This also ensures that rubber floor mats cannot develop mildew or mold.
- Rubber materials have excellent inherent slip-resistance. The rolled rubber mats demonstrate a higher coefficient of friction than traditional floors, giving the rubber floors a natural grip.
- Most roll rubber matting in made from recycled or reclaimed rubber materials, which makes it both eco-friendly and recyclable.
- Rubber mat flooring provides great insulation to warm up cold spaces such as basements and garages.
- Rubber is also great for soundproofing! Rubber floor mats will help to absorb vibrations and dampen any excessive noise.
- One of the best things about rubber flooring is how easy it is to install! You can opt out of costly installation services and keep your roll rubber matting as a DIY project!
- Rolled rubber mats give a solid, seamless appearance that looks great in both residential and commercial settings.
- Roll rubber matting is much easier to take care of than traditional floors because it’s so durable and resilient. This low-maintenance flooring can be cleaned easily with good old soap and water.
