Silicone rubber is comfortable in extremely hot situations that would cause failure in most other types of rubber. This material is ideal for use as high temperature gasket material in heavy industrial settings. On the flip side, it can also endure extreme cold. The lowest temperature point that it can endure is -103° F.

Silicone sheeting that had a durometer rating of 70 is very physically durable and ideal for applications that demand tough parts. However, it sacrifices elasticity in exchange for its increased strength.
