What Are People Saying about Rubber Matting For Floors?
Purchasing flooring is not the sort of thing you want to do very often—not because it’s not fun, but because you want your initial purchase to be durable and resilient enough to last a good amount of time. For this reason, rubber matting for floors is a great choice, especially when it comes to protective applications for both people, subsurface structures, as well as equipment, materials, and other objects. But there are so many rubber surfaces out there—that choosing what you want and what you need could easily get difficult. There’s a wide range of varieties that vary in styles, like rubber mat tiles and rubber mat runners, and then there is an array of materials like natural and synthetic options, all of which offer their own unique benefits.
Choosing what option is best for your particular needs can quickly become overwhelming. That’s why, when it comes to deciding on which rubberized mat or flooring option is best suited for your particular needs, we highly recommend the use of past customer reviews. Revising what has been said about products is a great way to educate yourself and to ensure that you are being an active and smart consumer! A product review will help you gauge the effectiveness, the applications, and the quality of a flooring option before you make a purchase.

Rubber Matting For Floors
Rubber matting for floors is a great surfacing option and we’re proud to say that consumers agree! Check out a few of the reviews we’ve pulled from Amazon, Sears and our own storefronts, which are representative of the three main styles of rubber flooring—tiles, runners, and individual mats. All of the below comments are about Rubber-Cal products.
What Are People Saying About Rubber Mat Tiles?
Rubberized interlocking tiles are a great way to cover a large surface area. Available in a range of colors, gauges, and sizes, this flooring option is versatile enough to fit into a professional setting or a colorful playground for children. End pieces will give your area a polished and finished look, and there are even end pieces available with beveled edges which will allow for easier wheelchair access. Here are some reviews for interlocking tiles:
On Feburary 24th, 2011, Ostrowski from New York had this to say about interlocking tiles:
“LOVE the Rubber-Cal puzzle [lock]. Goes together great, looks good, cleans easily. We are using it for our exercise flooring and also set up a large area of Rubber-Cal for dog training. It is perfect for both. There is a very slight rubber odor when first unpacked, but this goes away quickly. BY FAR WORTH THE MONEY! And love how you can have a small space or a large space. It’s fun, looks great, and is easy!!!”
“Old Geek” from Michigan, added this on February 15th, 2009:
“Purchased [rubber mat tiles] to put under treadmill and weight set (works great), and the kids loved it, and wanted it in their rooms, so I ordered several different colors, and let them mix/match to their liking. After placing 3 or 4 tiles (they interlock easily and securely), realized that the strong plastic smell was a problem. I left them in the garage with the windows open for a week or so, and the aroma went away mostly (may want to wait until open window weather arrives). We have used them on top of concrete, veneer "wood" flooring (where they are great sound insulators), and in one room on top of some gruesome shag carpet, where they work very well, and have some extra spring, but we do have the occasional shag fiber pop up through the seams. [They] are tough to sweep, but vacuum up easily with the beater bar turned off (or they get scratched).”
What are People Saying About Rubber Mat Runners/Rolls?
Rolls of rubber matting are exceptionally useful and easy to install—that’s probably what makes them so popular! Rolls are available in a variety of materials, and some even come with textured surfaces making them great for hallway, corridor, and walkway applications. Some of these runners (as well as tiles and individual mats) are made from recycled materials, the source of which is discarded automobile tires, which stands as a true testament to the product’s durability. Just consider all the harsh conditions that tires are designed to withstand—constant exposure to sun, excessive exposure to moisture, rough and uneven terrains! Some of the comments left by people really show what a great multipurpose product this is:
Gregory J. Nelson from Florida said this about rubber rolls on February 28th, 2013:
“I spent [a lot] of research online for a heavy duty work bench top cover. If you are a professional or somebody that wants to buy something once, this is your baby. This stuff is tough and keeps from scuffing not only the item that you are working on, but the top of your bench as well. The material is made of recycled rubber and is good for flooring mats as well. Cut it to size and it stays put!”
On November 1st, 2011, Michael W. Bartram “Old Goat” from California shared this:
“This is a perfect flooring material for home gyms. No need to put down anything to stick it to the pre-existing floor. Mine went over bare concrete in one of the areas, and over low-shag carpet in the other. Just cut to size and roll it out. It flattens out right away with slight curls at the ends and edges the first couple of days, and putting your weights on the seams helps flatten the edges. It was surprising how easy it was to install and how much it enhances a home gym. I just keep an exercise pad down where I do crunches, etc., and a weight bench and other machines right on top. The material is sturdier than I had expected.”
What are people saying about rubber mats?
Rubber matting for floors doesn’t always have to be all encompassing. Offering all of the great benefits of this material, individual mats are specifically made to fit pre-determined sizes. A rubberized mat will offer protection to a specific location—like under some heavy-duty equipment, home appliances, and exercise gear. Check out what people are saying about mats:
Here, Steve from Idaho on March 19th, 2012, shares:
“It was one of the few mats that was actually wide enough and long enough. I have a Smooth Treadmill, [extra-long], and wider than most. It is a nice quality [rubberized mat], pretty heavy, but that is a good thing. The most important thing is it didn't have that "rubber" smell that so many rubber products do, only if you put your nose right down to is could you actually smell it. It keeps my treadmill from moving around, and would highly recommend this product. I would like to purchase one for under my Elliptical next.”
On October 15th 2011, Carrie left this comment:
“A lot bigger than I expected. I ended up cutting it [into] two pieces. I am a groomer and have one piece in front of tub and one piece in front of my station where I groom dogs. Fast [shipment]. Thanks!!”
