Buna N (Buna) or Nitrile an oil, grease, fuel, and petroleum resistant rubber

Products discussed in this article: Nitrile, White Nitrile, Nitrile Sponge, Neoprene

Nitrile (otherwise known as Buna-N) is the answer to applications where frequent chemical exposure is anticipated.  Whether you're looking for a product with grease, chemical, and/or oil resistance, Nitrile offers it all.  Nitrile sheet rubber is resistant to oil, solvents, and fuels, which means that it is applicable for padding, seals, or gaskets for exposures ranging from animal fat to diesel fuel.  Nitrile is available in black or white, solid rubber sheets and as Closed Cell Sponge sheets. Closed Cell Sponge sheets are perfect for seals and general gasket applications where compression is a factor as well as chemical resistance.

Nitrile is available in 20-50 linear feet & in thicknesses ranging from 1/16" to 1/2" with 36" widths.  Recommended for applications involving greasy and oily tables and occasions where one is frequently working with oil or grease as a lubricant; you could use this product to cover the section of work table most frequently used, or the entire area.  Nitrile sheet rubber and Nitrile sponge rubber both offer superior oil resistance while sustaining the abrasion resistance that your application may require.

Compared to Neoprene (which is a more cost effective sheet rubber that will withstand moderate and less frequent oil and chemical exposures), Nitrile is better suited for applications where constant grease or petroleum exposure is anticipated (i.e. automotive applications or seals for well lubricated machines).  For large orders, Nitrile rubber sheets can also be dye, water jet, or laser cut to your specifications.

Send us a drawing and we'll let you know what services we can provide you.  So whether you're looking for a seal for a meat grinder or a gasket for a car engine, Nitrile might be exactly what you're looking for.
